The Great Ocean Road
Ühel märtsikuu nädalavahetusel rentisime sõpradega auto ja vıtsime ette Suure Ookeani maantee. Tee algab umbes 100km Melbourne'ist edelas ja kulgeb mööda rannikut 243km läände. Põhiliselt looduslike vaadete ja rahvusparkide poolest kuulus teekond on hea vaheldus linna geomeetriliselt üksluisele rägastikule.
Wikipedia andmetel rajasid trassi ranniku järsakusse I maailmasıjast koju naasnud sıdurid aastatel 1919-32 ning seda loetakse maailma suurimaks sıjamemoriaaliks.
On one weekend in March we decided to rent a car and take a cruise on the Great Ocean Road. The strip begins about 100km west from Melbourne and runs on the coast to the west covering the distance of 243km. Mainly known for its naturally beautiful scenery and sanctuaries it is a good chance from the repetitive geometrical puzzle of the city.
As the Wikipedia states, it was built by troops returning home from WW I during the years 1919 to 1932. It is the world largest war memorial to date.

Puhkust ei veedeta siin tädi või vanaema juures maal vaid vagunelamus rannaäärses parklas sõpradega grillides. Holidays are not spent at your aunt's or grandmother's place at the country side but at a camper van parking lot with friends having a barbeque.

Ettevõtmise kõrghetk oli 12 apostlit - lubjakivist kaljumürakad, mis istuvad ookeanis, on tekkinud erosiooni tulemusena. Hoolimata sellest, et tänase nime saamishetkel 1922.aastal oli neid 9, sai paiga nimeks turimsi eesmärgil ikkagi 12 apostlit (keskmine kõrgus 45m). Tänaseks on järgi vaid 8 - lained on teinud oma töö.
The highlight of the trip was Twelve Apostles - the gigantic limestone boulders with average height of 45m, that are sitting in the ocean, have been formed by erosion. Although originally there were 9 boulders, the place was named 12 Apostels in 1922. Today there are only 8 left - the waves are eating the scenery bit by bit.
